PROJECT DETAILS:

The home sits on a tight, steeply sloping, infill lot that terraces down to the water with direct boat and dock access to Lake Oswego. The clients wanted to substantially alter the existing lakeside home, and a new design meant severing off the existing structure at the garage and building new with a compact, three-tiered plan, embedded into the hillside. The built form takes shape from the plan with three stacked, offset boxes that maximize views to the water while providing privacy from the neighbors and the street. Each level was designed with an adjacent deck or terrace to provide access to the outdoors, allowing the clients to experience the lake setting from a variety of perspectives. A bridge spans from the street to the entry door for improved, direct access into the top level of the home giving uninterrupted views of the lake beyond. Angular landscape walls compliment the modern form of the home and step down to a flat lake-side terrace with access to a boat house and waterfront dock.
