PROJECT DETAILS:

This new construction residence sits on a 33-acre tree farm northwest of Portland overlooking both the west and east Willamette Valleys and five mountains. The three-bedroom house follows the gentle curve of the site located between the tree farm and a wheat field. The roofs funnel storm water into collection and use it for irrigation of the garden. Impervious surfaces were kept to a minimum and northwest materials were used whenever possible. An open linear plan provides maximum daylight and views down both valleys. Numerous clerestory windows provide ventilation and additional lighting. Several environmental zones impacted the design but ultimately allowed for a stronger connection between the house and the land.
